After a long hibernation it feels great to get out of the house, stretch the muscles and enjoy some heat from the sun. The best part is to just wander around the yard, marveling at the wonders of nature as plants begin to emerge from the ground.
We at EarthTones Garden Shoppe are sure that spring is around the corner somewhere!
Ask any gardener what their favourite season is, and we would say that most of them would answer with a smile, "Spring". Yes, it can be a busy time in the garden, with a long list of jobs to be done, but it is also the season of hope and new beginnings. As plants and wildlife respond to the lengthening days and slowly warming temperatures, you can sense life in the garden - birds are singing, crocus, early narcissi, Arctic Phlox and Hepatica are in flower, and green buds are starting to swell everywhere. It is a chance to make your new year gardening resolutions.
After a snowy winter, spring is welcomed with open arms. Planting starts in earnest in early May with pansies and cold crop vegetables such as onion sets, lettuce and spinach. Late May brings on the annuals as far as the eye can see.
Spring heralds the arrival of new plants to inspire gardeners to try new varieties of old favourites and indulge in an unusual new plan. In the spring EarthTones Garden Shoppe is packed with ideas for containers, borders, and vegetable gardens.
